Silver Screen Spectacular Press Release
The Syracuse University Brass Ensemble invites you to attend their "Silver Screen Spectacular" at The Palace Theater (2384 James Street, Syracuse) on Sunday, March 14, at 3 p.m.
"Silver Screen Spectacular" is a multimedia event featuring live music and projected images by Larry Royer of Syracuse-based Animotion, Inc. The program includes a popular James Bond medley, as well as selections from "Mary Poppins," "The Mission," "Silverado," "How the West Was Won," and "Hook." The group's director, Dr Jim Spencer, Associate Dean for Science, Mathematics, and Research at SU says he is excited to return to The Palace Theater, which has been an Eastwood landmark for nearly 90 years. "The Palace is not only a cinematic icon, but also a wonderful place to perform," says Spencer, referring to the superb acoustics. "The theater has been lovingly restored while maintaining its architectural integrity."
SUBE is a nationally recognized 35-piece ensemble housed in the College of Arts and Sciences. The group draws on professional, amateur, and student musicians from throughout Central New York, including three members from the North Side/Eastwood neighborhood, trumpet player Jeff Stockham, Percussionist Mary Kasprzyk, and trombonist Dr Jim Greenwald. In addition to performing at official functions at SU and Le Moyne College, SUBE presents more than a dozen public concerts a year, including the award-winning "Holidays at Hendricks," which is broadcast on WCNY TV and radio.
This is a community, volunteer group, but donations will be accepted (suggested $6 family, $5 children and adults, and $2 senior citizens) to help the band cover the cost of renting the Palace.
